It’s literally the greatest thing since sliced bread (because it’s the key ingredient in it). It’s also an Idaho staple. Each year, about 3,000 farmers in Idaho grow 100 million bushels of wheat on 1.2 million acres. Here’s more grains of truth about the wonders of wheat.

  • High five! Nationally, Idaho ranks 5th for wheat and wheat product exports, producing $416 million worth of wheat last year alone.
  • Workin’ it: The Idaho wheat industry is responsible for more than 8,500 jobs in the state.
  • Make it grain: Wheat is not only used for food but it also a vital ingredient in paper, hair conditioner, charcoal and medical swabs.
